The Warnell Woods and Wildlife Camp provides rising 4th–6th graders with a full day, immersive experience in Georgia’s forests and the natural resource careers that support them. This program is designed for older elementary students who are ready to expand their knowledge of forestry, wildlife, and outdoor science through hands on, field based learning. Throughout the week, campers will develop practical forestry and outdoor skills, including compass navigation, introductory mapmaking, and safe, responsible fire building techniques. These activities promote independence, problem solving, and a deeper understanding of how people study and manage forest ecosystems. A key feature of this camp is the opportunity to learn directly from guest professionals working in forestry, wildlife biology, conservation, and other natural resource fields. These experts will lead interactive demonstrations and hands on lessons, giving campers a firsthand look at real world tools, techniques, and career pathways within Georgia’s natural resource sector.
Details:
- Monday June 29 – Thursday, July 2 from 9:00-3:00pm daily.
- Grades: Rising 4-6th
- Cost is $100. Extended care optional until 5pm for an additional $25.
- Parent drop-off is from 8:45-9:00am and pick-up is at 3:00pm.
- If choosing to do extended stay, pick-up is anytime between 3:30-5:00pm
- Camp t-shirt and drawstring bag are included in the registration fee.
- Snacks and lunches are provided in the registration fee.
Special Instructions:
- T-shirts should be worn on Wednesday for group photos.
- On the last day of camp each week we will be doing Wetland Splash & Science Day where we learn about our local wetlands and afterwards play some water games. Please bring a towel and change of clothes.
